HUDSON & WEST | WELD :: ODD LOTS

$13.60

5 available

We work hard to stock Hudson + West yarns in sweater quantities for you, so when we receive a yarn delivery that varies from the previous dye lot, we separate out the old and new. Our "odd lots" are moved here and discounted while they last in the colors and quantities listed. All sales on odd lots are final.

FIBER: 70% U.S. Merino / 30% U.S. Corriedale

Like it's big sibling, Forge, Weld is made from a heathered blend of 70% U.S. Merino (sourced in Colorado and New Mexico), and 30% U.S. Corriedale (sourced in New York) wool. Weld is a well-balanced three-ply yarn, with a slightly more energetic twist for strength and durability. It has a beautiful balance of stitch definition, bounce, and wooly, cohesive bloom that produces both beautiful stockinette fabrics and delicate lace, texture, and brioche, and is perfect for stranded colorwork. Weld blooms beautifully and easily knits up on larger needles; we like it on anywhere from a US 3 to a US 6 (3.25 to 4.00 mm), depending on the application.

Weld is spun at Battenkill Valley Fibers in Greenwich, New York, and dyed at Caledonian Dyeworks in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A quick note about color: we know there's nothing more frustrating than yarn that looks one color online and another when it shows up at your door. The folks at Hudson + West have used a fine art reproduction camera and studio lighting to capture true-to-life colors; this means they're optimized for accuracy, not for "pop" on your screen. Still, for best results, you'll want to view them on a color-calibrated screen; a modern smartphone or tablet with the brightness turned up works great.
